The bioceutical company focused on alternative plant-based cannabinoids and psilocybin medical research, M2Bio Sciences, is launching a Hemp R&D division.

Sustainable hemp seed, fiber, and oil are used in raw materials by major companies, including Ford Motors, Patagonia, and The Body Shop, to make a wide variety of products.

In 2012 the U.S. hemp industry was valued at an estimated $500 million in annual retail sales and growing for all hemp products, according to the Hemp Industries Association.

That is in 2012. Today that number is much much higherย (no pun intended).

The M2Bio Hemp Research and Development Division will be led by Willem Jonker, COO of M2Bio Sciences. He will oversee a team of remarkable engineers spanning multiple engineering disciplines.

“Hemp is destined to have a colossal impact on the world in so many positive ways. We are keyed up to be at the forefront of research into how to turn stalks into products. This is the next logical phase in our quest to bring the world the benefits of the miracle plant.” – Willem Jonker, COO.
