VICE has uncovered several bogus activities  deployed by Yelp (NYSE: YELP) in order to increase revenues.

Yelp has secretly initiated a partnership with GrubHub in the form of an affiliate referral scheme, that has been scalping mom-and-pop shops and other small businesses.

The duo has orchestrated a back-scratching arrangement that refers to fee-prompting phone numbers and shadow web pages, both linking to the real company, but owned by GrubHub and Seamless (GrubHub’s subsidiary).

All, without informing its clients nor consumers. Scam.

When we spot such undertakings of unprincipled business conduct and predatory behavior, our flags go up immediately. Similarly, to when we called out CanTrust.

Bad behavior, bad business.
